Shetland Pony Auction
April 26th 2009 at Juravon Park Equestrian Centre, Melton Victoria
We are holding this auction to fill the void that has sadly been created due to the cessation of three Shetland Pony auctions in the state during the past 12 months. We hope that this will become an annual auction and will also be a great opportunity for all APSB Shetland breeders to have an avenue to sell and buy quality Shetland ponies.
* Viewing from 9am Auction starts at 11am
*A limit of Up to 50 Ponies,
*Open to all registered Shetland ponies within the APSB from 10.2hh and under.
*Males will be limited.
*Entries will be $50 for the first pony and $40 for subsequent ponies entered by any one person.
*Entries Close on 13th of February 2009.
*Catalogues available on our website or by mail in early March.
Your pony will be catalogued with a photo and details so please send a quality photo with your entry.

We will be having a raffle on the day and catering will be available to purchase a light lunch and Refreshments.
We also invite trade stands to come along , there will be a small fee of $15 per stand
There is stabling available at the cost of $30 per night Bookings at time of entry.
There is a hot wash available for $10 per pony or is included when booking a stable.
There is plenty of good accommodation available nearby if required.
The Stabling is limited. They are very large. First in basis.

Foaling News from Possum Hollow Stud (Vic)
Possum Hollow Stud had an unexpected arrival recently when their lovely mare Duidgee Penelope foaled a premature filly foal. After a shaky start, little Possum Hollow Annie-Rose is doing well. Read her story HERE.

8.2hh & Under High Point Pony Award
Small Shetlands are running a high point pony award for the 2008/2009 show season. These points can be collected from any Shetland Pony Class at any Ag show as well as APSB Breed shows. The Vic APSB Stud Show, Vic. All Shetland Show and the APOB Youngstock show are all double points shows.
How to enter:
Just send $10 with the pony details you wish to nominate to the address below. Your record card will be sent to you. The money all goes into a pool for each age group and the winner receives 50% second 30% and third 20% of all money received for the age and sex. For example if there are 10 ponies entered in the yearling fillies the winner will receive $50 second $30 and third $20 plus a certificate of high point pony winner of 2008/2009. This year all the money paid for each entry goes into the pool.
When entering your pony, please nominate in the correct class from those listed below.

Preliminary Notice for Shetland Pony Auction
Small Shetlands of Australia Promotional Group is planning a Shetland Pony Auction to be held on Sunday, the
26th of April, 2009. Venue (to be confirmed) Juravon Park Equestrian Centre, Melton, Victoria.
We are hoping to make this an annual event as there are no longer any regular Shetland pony auctions in Victoria.
We have chosen Juravon Park as it is a great indoor facility and is accessible from all parts of Victoria. There is also bed and breakfast accommodation on site for interstate buyers. Please contact Carole Phillips or Leanne Baker if you have any thoughts or ideas about how we can make this day a great success.
Stallion Tender 2009
The group are running a stallion tender again for the 2009 stud season as this was a good fund raiser for 2008. We would appreciate it very much if any one would like to offer to donate their stallion for a service for the 2009 season stallion tender.

Stallions must be registered with the APSB as a Shetland under 8.2hh.

There will be a starting price of $400 on each stallion service.

There will be a $50 handling fee that goes to the stallion owner.

Any agistment costs required by stallion owner and any stud requirements will need to be met by the mare
owner, this will all be in writing before the tender is open so that the mare owners know exactly all the terms
and conditions that they will need to meet before putting in their tender.

The mares must be a registered APSB under 8.2hh Shetland. No over height mares will be excepted by any
stallion up for tender.

2009 Subscriptions
It was decided at our last meeting to change our subscription to being due in November of each year.
The new fee is a flat fee of $15 per year starting November 2008. You receive 4 newsletters a year, details listed on our web site and discounted advertising on the web site. All those subscribers who subscribed between the end of January 2008 and 31st October 2008 will not be due till November 2009. All other subscribers before the 31st of January will be due come November 2008.

2009 Calendars & Diaries
The 2009 Small Shetland Calendars will be available by the end of September. If you would like to order one they are $5 each (plus $2.50 postage). Postage can be combined if more then one is ordered. We still have 2008-2009 diaries (pictured right) available for sale at $6 each plus $2.50 postage.

Upcoming Events
As well as our feature classes to be held at the 2009 Vic APSB Stud Show, and our 2009 Stallion Feature, the Small Shetlands Committee is working hard at organising events to promote our under 8.2hh Shetlands. We will be running a high point score competition for Ag shows running under 8.2hh Shetland classes. Double points may be earned at the Vic Stud Show and All Shetland Show. Contact our Secretary on Ph (03) 5368 1541 or by email to organise a scorecard for your ponies. We are also anticipating holding a Shetland Pony Auction for registered Shetland ponies of all sizes in April 2009. More details will be published on our website when they become available.
Stallion Tender 2009
The Small Shetlands group will be holding another Stallion Tender in 2009. Forms will be published on this site closer to the date. If you are the owner of a Small Shetland stallion and would like to donate a service, we would love to hear from you. Please email for more information.

Stallion Tender 2008
Congratulations to Emma Manning from Grassdale Stud (Vic) on her winning bids in our first Stallion Tender. Emma was the successful bidder on the services to the lovely stallions Possum Hollows Lairds Glory and Plum Lane Makin A Splash. Thank you to all who participated and the generous Stud Owners who offered services.
2009 Victorian APSB Stud Show 8.2hh & Under classes
The Vic APSB Stud Show to be held in January 2009 in Bendigo, Victoria will have a new schedule with many new classes. This show will be the Feature Show for our group and Small Shetlands will be sponsoring all prizemoney for Champions and Reserves. Thanks to the hard work of our committee and the generosity of our members, sponsors have been assigned to all Champions and Reserves as well as the major awards and there will be prizemoney, plaques, garlands, rug vouchers and kersey rugs on offer. There will also be a Most Successful Exhibitor High Point Score trophy awarded based on placings in the Under 8.2hh ring. Hopefully we will have a large turnout for the show and we might even see a few of our interstate members making the journey to Victoria.
